“I’m fine!”

How stressed do you need to be before you try Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

“How stressed do you need to be before asking for a bit of help?”

This question really resonated with me.  I have been a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist for quite a while now and I was a Primary Teacher for many years before that, and I can say with all honesty that I wish I had sought out a bit of help before I got stressed in the first place.  If I had understood what was happening in my own brain, then maybe I could have handled it all a little easier when life got overwhelming.

There was a time in my life when there was loss … there was work … there was family … friends who needed me … when I thought I needed to be constantly ambitious.  I had not really taken in to account the impact of my health issues were having on me and the warning signs were there, I just wasn’t listening.

What is going on?

Stress often creeps up on us.  Sometimes there is a big event, and we know that this is and why it is causing us to struggle, but often it is a series of smaller events that we deal with, that we cope with, that we say we thrive on until eventually we can’t.  Our brain starts to develop little habits and strategies that ‘will keep us safe’ but really they are keeping us in the negative thinking ‘safe’ scenario.  These coping strategies could be physical, social or they could be more thought-based such as negative forecasting all the things that could potentially go wrong.  Or they could be a mixture of lots of different symptoms.

What can we do about it?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is based on neuroscience research.  It helps you understand what is going on in your brain and your body when you are stressed or anxious.  It helps you understand what stress and anxiety are.  Once you realise that the voice inside you that was telling you, “You are the only one in the world who feels like this!” is not real, it is a complete game-changer!    The sessions build up the picture gradually around what you really want and the small steps you need to take to get you there.  Trance, the guided relaxation part, supports you to process your thoughts and intellectually plan for the future. It is also amazing or so I am told by pretty much all of my clients!

Is it the right time to change?

When working with a range of clients the comment I hear the most is … “Why did I not do this sooner?”  The answer to that is that it wasn’t the right time for you then.

Are you nodding to yourself right now? Is it the right time for you now?

Do you want something different for the future?

Do you want to take back control of your life?

Do you want to bring the joy back into your life?

If any of these feel true for you, that’s your answer.
